Apple WWDC 2015: What To Expect

Apple's worldwide developer conference is just around the corner. Taking place at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco, California, between the 8th and 12th of June developers and Apple fans across the world will have their eyes trained on the event, hoping to ascertain the direction the company hopes to tread during the coming year. With weeks to go, we thought we'd take a look at the rumours, hopes and expectations of the WWDC; what treats does the company have in store?

Apple WWDC 2015: What To Expect

iOS 9

Software is always a focus of the WWDC, and as such it's pretty much guaranteed that the technology giant will be showcasing its brand now operating systems, iOS 9 and Mac OS X 10.11. Not much is known about the new operating systems aside from Apple's Worldwide Marketing SVP Philip Schiller's words: "We've got incredible new technology for iOS and OS X to share with developers at WWDC and around the world, and can't wait to see the next generation of apps they create,". Guess we'll have to keep guessing, then!

New Devices

With the release of both the Apple Watch and iPhone 6 earlier this year, it's difficult to see what new gadgets Apple could pull out of their hat this year. Nevertheless, we'll probably learn more about Apple TV updates and new versions MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac Pro. Practically every developer who uses some kind of app will be watching this space with baited breath, especially those for whom processing abilities are paramount. Will we be able to play new video slots from SlotoCash in stunning, completely fluid HD? What sort of amazing new applications, products and services will be able to run on the new machines? We don't know yet, but it's pretty likely that most companies will be boosting their gaming, shopping and productivity apps in anticipation for when the new products are released.

New Services

With the Apple Watch having had a rather subdued release amongst reviewers, many tech pundits will be eagerly awaiting news regarding the Watch SDK and the apps running on the device itself. The new Beats-powered music service will also likely be talked about. We heard in February that Apple had enlisted the talents (and fanbase) of ex-BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe, although details were scant regarding what exactly he'd be getting up to, so it'll be interesting to find out exactly what role the superstar DJ will be playing within the service.
