10 tetra byte hard disk drive of HGST will soon be available in data center servers.

HGST will soon launch its hard disk drive of 10 TB of storage space which will be used in data center servers near you!

The attendees at a recent Linux Foundation Vault trade show in Boston got a glance of  HGST's 10TB hard disk drives (HDD) which is being built by Western Digital subsidiary that was formerly known as Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. Though it looks like any ordinary hard disk drive it has a storage capacity of 10TB and has been built to serve the data storage at data center servers and not for ordinary PC. The drive is also known as 10TB SMR Helioseal HDD and as per some officials it was being built since September 2014 and would be launched by mid of 2015. A new device manipulation library "libzbc" was added to get access to these drives through Linux. A complete support for these drives to work in Linux is still under process.

10TB HelioSeal uses two new distinct technologies:

• HelioSeal technology- here disks are filled with Helium gas and sealed, this reduces the read-write head friction and also enables more disk platters to be packed in.
• Host-managed Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR)-  this is a bit complex technology. In traditional hard disk drives the writing to the disk is done by using overlapping magnetic tracks which run parallel to each other. Here the disk drive tracks are separated by a small gap to make sure new writes don't corrupt data.  Now lets see the concept of SMR: here wider tracks are written that partially overlap previously written tracks, which in turn look like roof shingles due to which it has got this name. The gaps are removed which enables 25% to 100% more data to be written on the same disk platter and hence SMR enables data densities as high as 3 trillion bits per square inch. So the basic principle which SMR follows is that the read heads "read" the narrow tracks whereas the "write" heads do the writing part on the broader bands.

HGST's 10TB hard disk drives uses 256MB bands. Hence whenever the data is either read or modified or rewritten it takes place on the same band if there is enough space and if there is no space then the drive would use a new band.  Due to this the 10TB HDD are having slower writing speeds. Hence HGST is awaiting for a suitable Operating system to support this SMR and Linux is the best possible server to support the SMR. Hence even if the hard disks drives are ready HGST also needs a suitable operating system to support this new technology of 10TB SMR Helioseal HDD. Due to all these factors it is taking HGST more time to launch the product in the market.

However, by end of second quarter of 2015 HGST plans to launch the 10TB HDD in  market though price has not been announced yet. The company promises a reasonable overall Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) when compared to the cost incurred in power consumption, storage density and cooling bills because 10TB HDD uses lower power consumption, higher storage density and the overall cooling bills required is less.

Well  HGST's 10TB HDD seems to be the right answer for people requiring huge data storage, then would the cost matter much!!

#DigitalIndia : How E-Governance initiatives by Government of India for Digital India will help us

E-Governance means use of Internet and Telecommunications to improve the governance in India with the major aim of bringing public services closer to citizens. Basically there are 3 categories of E-Governance: - G2C: Government to Citizen, G2B: Government to Business, G2G: Government to Government. 

The National E-Governance Plan (NeGP) is a joint effort of (DEITY) Department of Electronics and Information Technology and (DARPG) Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances. 

Majorly NeGP aims at providing efficient, reliable and transparent Government services to citizens and businesses at an affordable cost ensuring that it would be accessible even to a common man in his locality. NeGP comprises of 27 mission mode projects and this is probably the first Government project of its kind which has been successful in bringing together the civil society, citizens, private sectors, youths, entrepreneurs and the researchers. 

In this article we will check certain features of the E-Governance initiatives which have been planned to reach out and help the citizens of India at State and Central levels:

• UIDAI: A project which uses Biometric data to provide a Unique Identification number to the citizens of India. Government has further made good use of this UIDAI in following fields:
• LPG Subsidy: This is known as PaHal scheme, LPG users are given subsidy in the rates of the gas cylinder for a particular number of the cylinders per year. For example: Suppose Government has fixed the upper limit of 12 gas cylinders for a year then users will receive the subsidized amount in cash which is directly deposited in their bank account to which their UID number has been linked. Now if user goes for 13h cylinder in that year then he has to pay the actual amount of the cylinder and the subsidy will not be given. Government plans to make this scheme available only to the deserved ones based on their yearly tax slabs. 
• Digilocker: Here Government has created a special Cloud wherein citizens can store the images of their important documents like their Birth certificate, Pancard, Driver license, Passport and all such business document which they can access from anywhere in the world. Citizens would need to create an account for themselves in the site: Digilocker.gov.in and then use their UID number as the PIN to ensure security. With this feature Government of India has made Cloud as a Portable medium which will now carry all the required entitlements of the citizens. This will help Citizens so as to avoid carrying the original certificates when they are travelling. 
• Other online services like: Filing of Income Tax returns, Online Pension schemes for old aged people, online payments of the utility bills. All these online services would help citizens to save their time and also help them avoid the long queues and waiting periods.
• Online application: For Passports, for jobs and exams, for admissions in colleges through centralized system, for Scholarships, Immigration, Visa & Foreigners Registration and Tracking (IVFRT).
• Digitalization of the Land Titles: This process makes it easy to evaluate the ownership and tenancy of the particular land.
• E-Governance introduced various different schemes at the State Level; however, due to digital illiteracy these schemes were not that successful.
• Scheme Gyandoot:  In Madhya Pradesh it provides a direct connectivity between the district administration and the citizens.
• Scheme Lokvani : This was introduced in Uttar Pradesh for handling citizens grievances.

Government needs to now take measures to increase the digital awareness amongst the mass along with the literacy drives. There are many ways wherein the technology can really help the Government to enhance better governance and a vibrant #DigitalIndia is surely a must for future which would give more transparent government to the citizens with reduced administration expenditure cost on government.

Yummy Breakfast @ Guptaji’s place for Kellogg’s nasta

Indians firmly believe that a good breakfast is the key for good health. During my school and college days sitting together and having the sumptuous breakfast with all family members was a daily routine. It used to provide a kick start to a beautiful day ahead. 

Recently my family doctor informed me that by merely having breakfast a person could protect their heart, lower the risk of type 2 diabetes, it gets you moving with more energy all day long also it enhances the memory power and might help one to keep the weight down. 

Wow! Feels so good however my lifestyle has changed so drastically nowadays I skip my breakfast everyday just to reach my office in time same is the case with my husband. Well, last week something changed and all of a sudden my neighbor Mrs. Gupta had her mother coming down from their native place and since it was a Saturday she requested me to accompany her to the station to receive her mother. 

Now, as a gratitude I was invited by the old lady for a breakfast on Sunday. As it was the case that I had been skipping my breakfast for a long time and even my husband was on a tour so I grabbed this opportunity.

The next morning there I was at Guptaji’s place for a much awaited breakfast at about 8 am. When I reached for the bell I could smell some delicious recipe being prepared. And soon I was happy to have accepted this breakfast. The old aunty gave me a modified version of so called “Chat” as she had made some changes to the traditional “Chat” to suit our modern needs. It was giving a sweet sour and fruity aroma. 

The recipe was a mixture of some raw veggies, oats and corn flakes and fruits with chutneys. I actually had 3 bowls full of the “Chat” and asked her to give me the recipe. She said it was sort of ready to cook with some prior planning.  One has to soak some black chana or Kabuli chana overnight and cook it in a pressure cooker with some salt. Simultaneously prepare some green chutney and tamarind chutney which we usually prepare for bhels or Sevpuri. First fry some Kellogg’s Oats in a pan. Then cool it and take equal amt of Kellogg’s Corn flakes in another bowl mix them. Take some boiled and cubed potatoes, onions, chopped tomatoes and cucumber, chopped green chilies, the boiled Kabuli or kala chana, take some yogurt and mix all these by adding black pepper powder and black salt as per taste and some coriander leaves chopped and also a dash of pomegranate or cut raw imli. Mix all the ingredients and serve instantly. This breakfast is not only much filling but also it provides the fibers through Kellogg’s Oats and Kellogg’s Corn flakes. It gives the benefits of yogurt and also the proteins from Kala chana or Kabuli chana. In additions the raw veggies have their own benefits.

The old lady not only gave me delicious breakfast but also taught me that though life has become very fast we too need to mould ourselves and make use of the different products available to us to suit our needs. Thanks to Kellogg’s Oat and Kellogg’s Corn flakes with their different flavors and also to the day I had breakfast at Guptaji’s place; I have not skipped my breakfast since then and think I am leading a more beautiful and meaningful life.

#InternationalDayOfHappiness : Simple things matter most

Day before yesterday the world celebrated the International Day of Happiness on 20th March. 

In today's world filled with hatred, terrorism and race riots, the International Day of Happiness assumes a significant meaning. In our otherwise spiteful and hateful life we have something to cheer about.

International Day of Happiness was promulgated by the United Nations General Assembly which said that the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental goal for humanity and the International Day of Happiness provides the people for a more inclusive, balanced and equitable approach to growth. It also asks us to celebrate the International Day of Happiness through appropriate manner including education and public awareness.

Here is my part to create awareness among the public about what happiness really is.  I am a person of solitude and I appreciate privacy very much so there are a very few things I can do in the open to get happiness. 

The first of the little things that provides me with umpteen happiness is just going to the beach or sea shore and feeling the ocean winds against my face. The beautiful symphony created by the ocean waves along with the winds just creates a beautiful heaven for me. 

The second of the little things I enjoy is really little bit wacky. I enjoy watching plants and animals. I sit for hours watching a ant wind its ways to the myriad lanes of my house. It is fascinating watching them work so heart oblivious to the fact that another  being from their planet who is around million times bigger than them, watching them. Sometimes I wonder if they know I am watching them and communicate with themselves about it.

The third thing which gives me utmost happiness is my morning coffee. Not any coffee but the filtered coffee variety found in South India. After staying awake through the late nights working on the blog and waking in the morning to the aroma of the filtered coffee is just heavenly. It is a fact that till the time I have a full mug of filtered coffee in my stomach I dont feel awake. The added incentive of having the coffee is that it starts my day in a very happy mood.

The fourth thing which makes me happy is reading the newspapers part. In todays world when everything is available online, newspaper reading may sound ancient but it has its own charm. Reading the paper, educating myself and being able to make some meaningful contribution to the society is one of my dreams as I feel that newspapers across India have the power to form opinion. I feel that if papers can generate positive opinion about our country, our culture, our Indianness we may see prosperity very soon. Sadly our newspapers are missing the trick here.

The fifth and the final thing which makes me happy is watching the analytics of my blog. I know it may sound ludicrous but watching so many people reading my blog gives me a high everytime I open the Google Analytics. 

Imagining that somewhere in some corner of the world someone is reading my blog and I am able to provide that person with some knowledge is a feeling that can make anyone tippy.

As I told you, things which can make me happy are really small and doable in everyday life. These things make me start and end my day with a positive frame of mind. With these small things we can make a better world, a better tomorrow for our generation, so lets celebrate the spirit of the day with Coca Cola International Day of Happiness.

LG G Pad started sale in India at INR 17,999.

Xolo launched new smartphone in India just for INR 9,999.

The Indian smartphone maker XOLO has revealed new smartphone called LT2000 which is comes with 4G LTE version in India.As per the official statement the new XOLO comes LT2000 comes with sports a 5.5-inch HD IPS display, 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, and Android 4.4.

The company has promised to provide Android 5.0 update for the smartphone.Also the new smartphone comes with two falvour of configuration  lets see the next configuration like it has comes with another variant like 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front shooter, 4G LTE support, 2920 mAh  battery and dual-SIM connectivity. March 23 India will receive Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

In India Samsung has planning to release the new smartphone in India smartphone market.Already there is much information about Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge has released on Mobile World Congress.Now Samsung sent press event on March 23 in Delhi so expected to launch those two smartphone in India during this event.

Also both of the smartphone comes with same specification interms of hardware but some feature
has varied in software functionality.Also the new smartphone comes with 3GB of RAM, 32/ 64/ 128GB of internal  storage, NFC and IR LED. The S6 and S6 Edge also come with 16MP rear camera with OIS, 5MP front shooter and Android 5.0.

LG L90 receive Android 5.0 update in India.

Luxury Android smartwatch may launch near 2015 from TAG Heuer.

One of the well know luxury watch maker TAG Heuer as well as traditional watch maker planning to release Android wear smart watch. To achieve smartwatch TAG Heuer joined hand with Google and Intel.

As of now company has not released any further information but only said to media is, the smart watch will arrive at the end of 2015 to the retail market.TAG Heuer is the traditional watch maker but now they are concentrating on smartwatch to trend setting. With  the global market for smartwatches expected to 28.1 million units this year from 4.6 million in 2014 (according to Strategy  Analytics).

Asus new smartphone has launched named as ZenFone 2 64GB.

The new smartphone has launched from Asus with named as ZenFone 2 and coming with 64GB variant model number ZE551ML.The Taiwan brand Asus has slowly reaching market in India by releasing big screens smartphone.Now Asus has released officially the confirmation and price information.Now, the Asus ZenFone 2 ZE551ML with 4GB of RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage has been confirmed along with a price of TWD 9,990 (approximately Rs. 19,900). Its starting sale in Taiwan from March 23 alongside the Asus ZenFone 2 ZE551ML (4GB RAM and 32GB storage).

Google officially Announced for shutting down!!!

Google recently launched to shut down the Google code starting from January 25 2016.As part of this activity Google has started disabled the new project creation as of today and the Google Code site will be available only to read starting from August 24. Also Google code initially launched on 2006 to address lot of issues in project hosting and services.Some of the project already away from Google code as well as remaining code place in Google code has noted that spam or abuse.So Google decided to close this service.
So those who have testing or valuable project on Google code just shift to some other location before the end of shutdown.

Android 5.0 Lollipop roll out for LG G3 users!!!

HTC launched new smartphone called HTC One M9.

In Taiwan HTC launched new smartphone named as HTC one M9 few days back.Taiwan is the first market to get this product but its not exclusively for Taiwan it will be roll-out globally soon.Also HTC said that in addition to the 32GB of smartphone will soon roll out 64 version of HTC one M9 as well.Also the 64GB of HTC one M9 was not yet announced at Mobile world congress press event.As per the statement from
Focus Taiwan,The new 32GB of one M9 comes with price tag of  NT$21,900 (US$693) and the 64GB version has been priced for NT$23,900  (US$757).Also this smartphone comes with dual-tone silver as well as rose gold color.

In India Micromax one of the key player in the mobile market as of today.Now Micromax entered into TV market segment as well to launch low cost TV just like same strategy they have done in mobile segment.Recently Micromax launched 4K TVs in India for the price tag of Rs.39,900 starting price.Its really good price for the 4K TVs.After Toshiba and Vu now Micromax has released new 4k Tv with Android based OS in India market.Micromax last Thursday introduced 42-inch wider screen with model number 42C0050UHD and 49-inch  model number 50K2330UHD display sizes.

Also Micromax joined hand with Flipkart to release this 4K television for e-retailing for the price tag of 

INR 39,990, while the 49-inch model is available for INR 49,990.First lets discuss about 49-inch 4K TV, This TV fully loaded and runs on Android 4.4 and comes with 3840x2160p display panel with 178-degree viewing  angles and a metal frame. The television also includes three USB ports, two HDMI ports, Ethernet, VGA connector,  AV input and Wi-Fi connectivity. “Tring” “Tring” “Tring” the bell was ringing continuously, my husband unwillingly opened the door as he was watching his favorite cricket match on the television set and there stood the Flipkart person with a package in his hand and my husband took the parcel by making the payment. 

I started to continue my work and there he came just behind me and showed me my new phone:  Moto E 2nd Generation which was released last week.  I was surprised, well I had been using a simple non Android phone for past 10 years and I do have computer at home so access to Facebook and Email was never an issue hence spending a huge amount of money on an Android smartphone was something which I did not favor. 

However, when my husband told me the phone has all the latest features of an Android phone and that too at a rate of Rs 6999/- I was just stunned.

This was a 3G supported smartphone with Android 5.0 Lollipop and my husband taught me how to use the various features. Now, for a person who has never bothered to use an Android smartphone this phone was all “Greek” to me,  however I liked the colorful big screen, camera and the WhatsApp features the most. 

Within a matter of 24 hours I was able to connect to entire world and all my long lost friends suddenly seemed to be live and talking to me via the WhatsApp  chats. The phone has something called “Quick capture” which can click photos even when a person moves, awesome isn’t it! One more thing, you can just jerk your hand and click photos, my kid just loves to click the photo due to this feature. 

The 5 MP rear camera and the front VGA camera was put to use by my small kid and I had almost 100 photos in my camera, my little one also taught me how to click my selfie, yeah he is a smart hi-tech kid. Thanks to the good storage capacity of the phone. It took me almost a couple of days to understand its working and must say the phone is very user friendly even for first time users.

Well, Motorola has been very thoughtful as the battery which they have provided works for long hours almost a day with single charge. Moto E also provides quick notifications so now I do not have to remember the bill and fees payments and I use this feature for my benefit to remind me regarding the project submission dates and PTA meetings at my kid’s school. 

One more feature which I liked was when the Google voice search rapidly gave me umpteen recipes to suffice for an entire month! For all moms, now it is much easier to answer all the tough questions which kids usually ask, I use the Google voice search and lo and behold I get the answers. 

You know what I am really enjoying this smartphone life with my Moto E, I really thank Motorola for launching  a product which is easy on the pockets of common people so that everyone gets a chance to use internet in the day to day life and to make the most of it.

I had a wonderful opportunity to witness the “Lo Hei” or “Tossing up good fortune” during my visit to Singapore last year.  

I would first like to share with you all the beautiful way in which the food was prepared and then will definitely let you all know about it. 

A group of people were sitting in a round table conference with a considerable large plate full of colorfully arranged ingredients that included a base of raw salmon, traditional mackerels, shredded green and white radish that had been drained of their liquids, shreds of carrot which helped to add to the bright orange color, crushed nuts and Pomelo which is a citrus native fruit and pickled ginger. A lady started adding condiments to this dish and began with the fish slices followed by generous pepper powder then some golden colored fried crispy blocks and apricot sauce then she said something in Chinese language. Now all the people gathered around the table and by using their forks started to say “Lo Hei” and tossed the food on the plate. This went on for some time, the mood was joyous and sort of wishing one another “May you have a good year ahead”. It was an unique way of celebrating new year started my research about this unique Singaporean dish. 

Located in Southeast Asia, Singapore is world's most prosperous countries. The culture here is a mixture of Indian, Chinese and Malay. What I enjoyed the most was delicious food and ample shopping and yes its nightlife. There were various famous Singaporean dishes like Chill Crab, Bak Kut Teh, Chicken rice, Nasi Lemak and Laksa. However, it seems Yusheng, Lor Mee, Teochew-style Bak Chor Mee, Satay Beehoon and Hokkien Mee are  the dishes which have been termed as traditional Singaporean dishes.

“Lo Hei” is an appetizer and serves as good luck for the Chinese new lunar year. Yuseng or “Lo Hei”  is a typical Singaporean dish, one can say was invented especially for celebrating Chinese New Year. It is a non vegetarian food however what I liked the most was the use of ingredients which had some purpose and also some unique ritual was followed to eat this appetizer. Yuseng traditionally symbolizes prosperity for the coming year. The condiments added as seen earlier have some specific meaning : Fish slices symbolizes an abundance of everything throughout the year; pepper is sprinted  to attract more money and treasures; deep fried flour crisps in the form  o f golden pillows symbolizes gold and richness and good agricultural produce, fruity apricot sauce added to have a life full of sweetness; now the lady wishes everyone a promotion in their work and prosperity in their lives for the coming year by saying “ Feng Sheng shiu qi and bu bu gao sheng”. Now all the people gather around the dish and start to mix the ingredients in an unique way…by tossing and while doing this each and every one wishes for a good year and also one can add their own wish while tossing…Lo Hei means Tossing up the good fortune.

Well if you really wish to enjoy this dish plan your trip to Singapore around 8th Feb 2016 which is the next Chinese new year and witness Lo Hei………….the best time to visit Singapore is anytime between November till early March.

Yu teasing new smartphone giving heat to Xiaomi.

The Yu smartphone called Yureka smartphone is not yet got Android 5.0 update but its not lacking when compare to Xiaomi devices.Recently Yu Televentures has announced its next upcoming smartphone which is come with name of "Project Caesar".Also the company targetting Xiaomi which is non of the smartphone not running on new Android 5.0 update.

“KitKat in the age of Lollipop, give me a break!” wrote Yu in the teaser with letter “m” in the word “me” using typography of Xiaomi logo.

So as per Yu company statement its clear that the next smartphone will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop version.Also as of now there is not enough information is available about the Project Caesar at this point of time.But our gadgetcongress team predict that the new smartphone from Yu will arrive with  Qualcomm reference design and is expected to be available in April. The phone will most likely feature a display size around 5-inches and include mid-range specifications in an aggressive price-tag.

Sony expected to launch Selfie based new smartphone called "Xperia Cosmos".

The next smartphone from Sony is Xperia Cosmos which is coming with Android 5.0 with with front LED flash as well.The new smartphone comes especially for selfie lovers and this smartphone will  arrive within this month.Also its expected that the new smartphone will succeed with earlier launch of Xperia C3 which is launched on July last year with huge mega pixel 5 with wide angle front camera with LED flash.As well as it has 5.5-inch HD display, and 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Now as per the @upleaks released next smartphone from Sony called Xperia Cosmos which will come with model of E530x.As per the leak information this smartphone comes with Android 5.0 with lollipop version with large size 5MP front camera with LED flash as well.Also this new upcoming model of Sony Xperia Cosmos may come with MediaTek MT6752 processor.As of now there were no information about the official release.
