Expand your MacBook’s storage with these three methods

Running out of storage space on MacBook? Check these three ways to expand your MacBook’s storage

MacBooks are not only good, slim, and light but they are also reliably fast. However, when your MacBook’s SSD (Solid State Drive) starts to reach its capacity, external storage is one of the first logical places to look for help. While external hard drives and memory sticks are solutions to the problem, you may be forced to carry around a portable hard drive everywhere you go.
Running out of storage space on MacBook? Check these three ways to expand your MacBook’s storage

So, what if you do not want tug around the external storage wherever you go? The answer to this problem comes in the form of another type of external storage: the SD card.

In this article, we provide you three options that not only provide great portability but also offer users with lots of extra storage space.

TarDisk Pear

The TarDisk Pear is a supplemental storage device for Mac laptops that resembles a shorter, metal version of an SD card, and slips into the SD card slot in your MacBook. TarDisk is designed to merge with your existing drive, giving you one, much bigger, single volume for storage. It has also been designed to seamlessly merge with your MacBook’s exterior. The Pear is a supplemental storage device for Mac laptops that resembles a shorter, metal version of an SD card, and slips into the SD card slot in your MacBook. What is cool about

TarDisk’s solution is that it runs the heavy load on your machine’s SSD and keeps all other less important files on the Pear. All you need to do is slot into your computer’s SD port and you will be up and running in seconds. However, please note that the Pear not only does capture your SD card slot, but also it is not cheap. The 256GB option for the MacBook Pro costs $399 on Amazon.

Samsung T3

Samsung T3, which is a tiny portable SSD is extremely small and offers read/write speeds of up to 450 MB/s. It is also shock resistant and offers secure data encryption, which is becoming more important than ever. Unluckily, the small devices aren’t exactly cheap. The 500GB option costs $169, while the 2TB one comes for a huge $749.

SanDisk Ultra Fit

One of the tiniest and simplest way to expand your computer’s storage is through the SanDisk Ultra Fit. The Ultra Fit provides read speeds up to 150 MB/s, write speeds up to 15x faster than a standard USB 2.0 drive, and optional SecureAccess software. These are very inexpensive too, such as the 128GB model is currently available for $30 through Amazon.

To learn more about these three storage solutions, check out the video above. Ron pretty much lives his life on the go, so he’ll tell you what it’s like to use these different options and what works best for someone who edits video for a living.

New discovered Pear-Shaped Nucleus dashes human time travel hopes

Scientists confirm a pear-shaped nucleus that could dash travel hopes

Looks like time travel by humans will remain a distant dream. Scientists based in Scotland have discovered the existence of a pear-shaped nucleus, which not only violates some laws in physics, but also suggests that time travel is not possible. Also, the nuclei of some atoms are not symmetrical. Up until now it was believed that time travel was possible but Scottish researchers have now turned the idea on its head.
Scientists confirm a pear-shaped nucleus that could dash travel hopes

First observed by researchers from CERN in the isotope Radium-224 in 2013, the pear-shaped, asymmetrical nuclei is also present in the isotope Barium-144. This recent confirmation shows that it is possible to have a nuclei that has more mass on one side than the other.

“This violates the theory of mirror symmetry and relates to the violation shown in the distribution of matter and antimatter in our Universe,” said Marcus Scheck of University of the West of Scotland, one of the authors of the study.

The researchers said that until recently, there were three shapes of nuclei — spherical, discus, and rugby ball. The shapes are fashioned by the distribution of electrical charge within a nucleus. They are determined by the particular combinations of protons and neutrons in a particular type of atom, whether it's a hydrogen atom, a zinc atom or a complex isotope created in a lab.

They further explained that the common factor across all three shapes is their symmetry and this joins nicely with a theory in a particle, which is referred to as CP-Symmetry. This is the amalgamation of two symmetries that are thought to exist in the Universe. They are the P-Symmetry and C-Symmetry.

In the end, this could help us understand why our universe is the way that it is. As astrophysicist Brian Koberlein notes, “It’s been proposed that a violation of CP symmetry could have produced more matter than antimatter, but the currently known violations are not sufficient to produce the amount of matter we see. If there are other avenues of CP violation hidden within pear-shaped nuclei, they could explain this mystery after all.”

This uneven distribution of mass and charge in the nuclei causes Barium-144’s nucleus to point in a certain direction in space-time. The team suggests that this could explain why time seems to only go forward and not backward, even if the laws of physics are undetermined on the outcome.

“We’ve found these nuclei literally point towards a direction in space. This relates to a direction in time, proving there’s a well-defined direction in time and we will always travel from past to present,” Marcus told BBC News.

The experiment will now be repeated by a team led by Marcus at the Isotope Separator On Line Detector (ISOLDE) facility at CERN in Switzerland. As ISOLDE can generate Barium-144 nuclei in huge amounts, it will be helpful in discerning whether the nuclei were even more pear shaped than had been expected by the initial measurements.

In the end, the discovery could be yet another indication that the universe might not be as symmetrical as the Standard Model of Physics requires it to be, which could propel us to a new era of theoretical physics.

The study has been published in Phyiscal Review Letters, and can be accessed for free at arXiv.org.

SentinelOne offers users reimbursement for ransomware infections

SentinelOne financially guarantees up to $1 million in damages for any customers infected by ransomware

US-based cyber-security firm SentinelOne has announced a “Cyber Threat Guarantee” that will provide customers with financial protection in the event of ransomware attacks on their networks. The company said that the guarantee provides users with financial support of $1000 per endpoint, or it will cover up to US$1 million in damages for any customers who are infected by ransomware.
SentinelOne financially guarantees up to $1 million in damages for any customers infected by ransomware

The user or the company can then use this money to pay the ransom and recover their files.
“Apparently some of the top re-insurers in the world agree with us," a SentinelOne spokesperson explains. "[I]f we miss something and you get infected - we’ll pay the ransom.

It’s that simple. And its how security is supposed to be. If you can block something - why not guarantee it? Would you buy a new shiny car without manufacturer warranty?"

Tomer Weingarten, co-founder and CEO of SentinelOne, said that it was keen to deal with ransomware in a “head-on way”. At a roundtable held last night in central London, he explained: “For an infection to take place it has to be in the wild, it has to be able to provide forensic evidence and we can see in real time if it is you hacking yourself and there are a lot of traces to cover."

“For ransomware writers, they don’t care about who they infect. We are just there to provide the comfort. We are the mechanism to get protected and if you get encrypted, we can cover the business interruption and you don’t have to pay the ransom if we did not fulfil our role in protecting you and we don’t encourage you to pay the ransom.”

However, Jeremiah Grossman, its chief of security strategy is convinced that the company wouldn’t have to make any pay outs. SentinelOne’s failure rate in stopping ransomware attacks is “way less than 1 percent,” he said in an interview.

He added that during the times its security failed, the client’s computer hadn’t been running the latest version of SentinelOne’s software.

Grossman hopes the guarantee will bring some accountability to the cybersecurity industry, and allow customers “navigate around outlandish marketing claims.”

“When security vendors sell products they are not giving a guarantee, which is completely different from any other space, whether it be electronics or cars,” he added.

SentinelOne’s guarantee works like this: the company will pay up to $1,000 to free the system for individual computers infected with ransomware. The number of computers it will cover is up to 1,000 systems.

“You pay, say $20 per endpoint to your antivirus vendor and they won’t pay for your ransom and you have to pay an extra $500 to get rid of your ransomware and you pay the pirate. We say pay us a $5 premium and you won’t have to pay that $500,” said Weingarten.

The policy has been designed this way because most ransomware attackers ask for around $250 or more to decrypt any data held hostage, Grossman said.

Customers who opt-in to the guarantee will pay an additional $5 fee for each Windows PC or server protected on top of their existing service. The coverage will last a year before it can be renewed again.

Whether that guarantee makes SentinelOne a target of hackers remains to be seen. Grossman said he doesn’t think that will happen. He added that hackers don’t basically target victims based on who insures them.

Instead, he hopes that the company’s guarantee will help customers distinguish between legitimate security firms and “snake oil vendors” offering inferior products.

“I’m ready for all the other vendors to guarantee what they do,” he said. “I think that’s far superior than us competing for customers with billboard presentations.”
SentinelOne is ready to stand up and say that technology is failing to provide sufficient protection, and that a better guarantee is needed. It’s the first to offer such a guarantee, and “no other cybersecurity company is currently offering to back their security technology with guaranteed financial remuneration”.

The Best Pokemon Go Cheat Ever iPhone Users Can Have

This ultimate Pokemon Go cheat lets you walk anywhere in the game without moving an inch

Pokemon Go, the popular augmented reality mobile game, has become a rage from the time it was launched on July 6, 2016. The free game allows people to catch, train and battle their Pokemon ‘in the real world’ by walking outdoors and interacting with other users. Players can also pick up supplies at real-world landmarks that serve as ‘PokeStops’ in the game.
This ultimate Pokemon Go cheat lets you walk anywhere in the game without moving an inch

However, finding Pokemon can be a wearisome job, as it requires lots of walking to catch them all.

The internet has been flooded with cheats, tips and tricks to make the job of discovering and hunting of rare Pokemon easier while sitting on your couch. However, that is certainly not how the game is meant to be played.

We have got just the perfect cheat for you that lets you use the official Pokemon Go app to play the game just like everyone else. In this, you will be able to walk your character around independently of your actual location and you control him or her with a joystick. However, note that cheating can get you banned, and in most of the cases, this is what happens.

Android users have tried faking their locations, and they got soft banned (no Pokemon show up on their maps), and there’s no doubt that Niantic would do the same thing on iPhone if it discovers anything suspicious for some players.

The next caution is even more important. In order to make use of this cheat, you will need to jailbreak your iPhone. While jailbreaking an iPhone can be done now without having to connect to a computer, not everyone is comfortable in doing it though. If that’s the case, then this hack isn’t for you.

Check out the video below for full instructions for installing the hack. Once installed, you will be prompted with some on-screen buttons in Pokemon Go that allow you to move the character around on the map, as you would typically walk on the street with your smartphone in hand.

This way, Pokemon Go is fooled into believing that you are the one moving and hunting Pokemon, as the cheat is also faking the location as you move around. In order to reproduce the typical moves that a human being would do when walking, there are numerous controls, and you can even boost your moves. There are a lot of other features baked in, such as the ability to track rare Pokemon even before they appear.

At Techworm, we do not encourage this kind of cheating, and we advise you too against it. We are not responsible for any consequences.

Scientists discover gene responsible for ALS with the help of funds raised from Ice Bucket Challenge

$100m donations in Ice Bucket Challenge has allowed researchers to discover a new gene linked to ALS

Two summers ago, when video clips of topless men and screaming women pouring buckets of ice water over them filled the internet, people thought it was silly.
$100m donations in Ice Bucket Challenge has allowed researchers to discover a new gene linked to ALS

The idea was to raise money for Amyoptrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) - a rare, progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, eventually leading to the loss of muscle control. Within two to five years of diagnosis, patients lose their ability to breathe, leading to their death.

Now, the Internet Ice Bucket Challenge that encouraged millions of people to dump buckets of ice-cold water over their heads has managed to collect enough funds to make an important breakthrough in ALS research.

The huge, socially-driven fund raising push saw 17 million people posting videos online and a slew of celebrities from Bill Gates to Steph Curry getting soaked to raise awareness for ALS, also called Lou Gehrig's disease.

In just eight weeks, $115 million was donated to the ALS Association, 67% of which was dedicated to advancing research for treatments and a cure, the non-profit reports.

Recently, the University Of Massachusetts Medical School's Project MinE discovered the gene that is responsible for ALS. Project MinE scientists were able to research this gene with help from the ALS Association, which donated $1 million from the Ice Bucket Challenge.

The identified gene is NEK1, which its alternative could provide clues to understanding and potentially treating familiar and sporadic ALS.

"The sophisticated gene analysis that led to this finding was only possible because of the large number of ALS samples available," said Dr. Lucie Bruijin, Chief Scientist at the ALS Association. "The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge enabled The ALS Association to invest in Project MinE's work to create large biorepositories of ALS biosamples that are designed to allow exactly this kind of research and to produce exactly this kind of result."

The association says that this is the third ALS-related gene researchers have discovered using money from the Ice Bucket Challenge. “The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge enabled us to secure funding from new sources in new parts of the world," Bernard Muller, founder of Project MinE and ALS patient, said in a statement. "This transatlantic collaboration supports our global gene hunt to identify the genetic drivers of ALS."

Next month, the ALS Association is launching a new campaign, Every Drop Adds Up, in an effort to recreate the success of the Ice Bucket Challenge.

ALS affects four to eight per 100,000 people and approximately 5,000 are diagnosed each year in the U.S.

Send and Receive Money Using Facebook Messenger

Although people typically install it on their phones to chat privately with their Facebook friends, Facebook also uses Messenger to bring features and capabilities that might not make sense, or even be possible, as part of the main Facebook service. And of course, a separate app gives Facebook even more advertising and other moneymaking opportunities.

For that reason, Facebook is pushing users to download the app, even though it takes up valuable storage on the phone. The company recently started blocking access to Facebook messages from mobile web browsers on Android phones in some markets. The ban will extend to iPhones as well, though Facebook isn't saying when.

Before you complain, consider what a separate Messenger app offers beyond simply typing words and sending emoji back and forth:

1. Group chats
Messenger lets you easily add friends to group chats so you can make dinner or travel plans or just talk about your day. Although this is also possible using your browser,
it's more convenient with the app. If kicking people off mobile browser messaging is the stick to prod people toward the app, the convenience of Messenger is the carrot to lure users.
Tapping the "groups" icon at the bottom of the screen will take you to existing group chats and let you start new ones. You can add people to group chats at any time, or
leave the group. If you have an often-used group chat, you can also "pin" it to the top of your messages to make it easily accessible.

2. Bots

Since April, Facebook has let outside businesses create "chat bots" that can send you the news or weather, help you shop for shoes or book plane tickets and hotel rooms.
You send a message to a brand's bot just as you would a friend; the difference is that the reply is automated through software. The results can be clumsy, as expected
 for such a new venture.

But bots can be helpful. Expedia, for example, lets you search for hotels and book them by messaging with its bot. Start by telling the bot where you are going and when.
After some back and forth, the bot will give you hotel options. To book, the bot will take you to Expedia's website.

This is just the start. Perhaps one day, the bot will be more useful by letting you book directly through Messenger. David Marcus, Facebook's head of messaging products,
has called bots "overhyped in the short term and underhyped in the long term."

3. Send or request money
Using your debit card, you can send money to your Facebook friends using Messenger - as long as they also have their card number attached to their Facebook account.
You can also request money, in case your friends forgot to pay you for those movie tickets and aren't answering their email. To use the payments option, select the person
you want money from and tap "payments." There are no extra fees to send or receive payments, but you must use a debit card - not a credit card.

4. Video calls

Messenger offers yet another way to do video calls on your phone. It's free over a Wi-Fi connection. If you use cellular, you might get charged for data by your phone company.

5. Play games
How about some soccer - or football, as it's known in most of the world? Select a friend to play with. Then, select Messenger's emoji keyboard by tapping on the emoji icon
on the left side of your message window, right above the keyboard. Tap the soccer ball icon and send it to your friend. Then, tap the ball with your finger and keep tapping
it so it stays in the "air."

During a recent, frustrating attempt, I had a high score of just two - though that's still one more than what Portugal scored to win the Euro Cup this year.

Apple Sold billionth iPhone unit.

Always Apple meet its target to sell its flagship iPhone.Overall the last quarter Apple has finally sold its billionth iPhone last week.Apple's CEO announced the milestone today during a special employee meeting in Cupertino this morning. Tim Cook, Apple CEO, thanked employees for "helping change the world every day," noting that Apple has "always set out to make the best products that make a difference."

The billionth iPhone was sold about two years after Apple sold its 500 millionth iPhone. That's a lot of units, and with the impending launch of additional phones to its line, it's
likely to sell a whole lot more in the future.

First Laptop released from Xiaomi for $750.

After a huge success of Redmi release Xiaomi released new laptop and its company's first ever laptop which is comes for the price tag of $750.The new Xiaomi laptop called Mi notebook Air which is running on Windows OS.This laptop comes with two size of screen 13.3-inch and 12.5 inch. Also both of this variant comes with very slim and neat look with 1080p display screen.

These two laptop released with Gold or silver color for the price tag of 4,999 yuan for $750.
The flagship 13.3-inch model comes in at just 14.8mm thick and 1.28kg heavy, which is pretty good given that you get an Intel Core i5-6200U "Skylake-U" processor (dual core, base frequency at 2.3GHz, turbo up to 2.7GHz) plus an NVIDIA GeForce 9
40MX GPU (with 1GB GDDR5 RAM). Of course, Xiaomi just had to point out that this is thinner and lighter than the 13-inch MacBook Air, though it doesn't use a wedge design so it's still bulkier.

You also get 8GB of DDR4 RAM, 256GB of SSD via PCIe and one free SATA slot for expansion (but only serviced by Xiaomi). The 40Wh battery should be good for up to 9.5 hours, and it can go from zero to 50 percent in just half an hour using the bundled USB-C charger.

The smaller 12.5-inch model is even slimmer and lighter at 12.9mm and 1.07kg, respectively, but you'll have to make do with an Intel Core M3 CPU, no dedicated GPU, just 4GB of RAM
and just a 128GB SSD via SATA -- though there's one free PCIe slot if you don't mind letting Xiaomi do the upgrade for you later. And instead of two USB 3.0 ports, you only get  one here; but you still have an HDMI port.

The Mi Notebook Air is launching in China on August 2nd. Again, there's no info regarding global availability as of now.

iPhone 7 launch date announced

The new iPhone 7 expected to launch on coming September second week.
Apple traditionally holds its iPhone launch event in September every year, but there is no official announcement on the iPhone 7 event date yet. However, a fresh leak now points at
a tentative launch time frame. The iPhone 7 may be launched in the third week of September, specifically in the week of September 12.

This time-frame comes from tipster Evan Blass, who is noted for his accuracy when it comes to leaks. Last year, Apple launched the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus on September 9, however
it came to India a month later. The same pattern is also expected this year.

The iPhone 7 was expected to launch in three variants - iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and a new iPhone 7 Pro version. However, new leaks hint that Apple may just stick to two variants this
year. There is also expected to be a new base storage variant - 32GB. The probable storage offerings are going to be shuffled to 32GB, 128GB, and a possible new 256GB variant.

Apple may also introduce a new dual camera setup in its large iPhone 7 Plus variant. There is also going to be the addition of the Smart Connector at the back, again exclusive to the
large variant only. To accommodate all this new hardware, the iPhone 7 Plus may get a bump to 3GB RAM.

The variants are expected to sport slightly bigger batteries, and the new Apple A10 processor for faster performance. The Home Button is expected to perform multiple functions, and be
Force Touch enabled. Because of the new chip (and if the rumoured death of 3.5mm audio jack is true), the iPhone 7 is also expected to be at least 1mm slimmer than its predecessor.

There's also a lot of chatter about the 3.5mm audio jack. Conflicting reports on the removal of the audio output make it difficult to really nail a presumptive conclusion on whether
it will be included this year or not. There's also expected to be a new Space Black colour variant with this year's launch.

Kabali Movie Full Review after FDFS

Kabali movie Quick review:

Kabali’s Rajinikanth is a man on a mission. He was grievously wronged years ago and Kabaleeswaram (Rajinikanth in Kabali) is out to extract his revenge. But before he does it, the audience will get its two-and-a-half hours worth of classic Rajinikanth moves, dialogues and dance steps.

Cut to the Kabali plot: Kabali is a worker who lives happily with his wife (played by Radhika Apte) and daughter. Then things start going wrong and our innocent, hard-working man loses everything. How he fights to save his world and help the downtrodden Tamilians in Malaysia forms the crux of Kabali.

The best part of the film, obviously, is Rajinikanth. His charisma pulls Kabali through. From the slick visuals showing the flashback to Rajinikanth playing his age as a don, his fans will not go home disappointed. Add to it the well-placed Kabali songs especially the hit Neruppa Da and you hear enough whistles and clapping in the theatre. The other cast members are also good and we would like to give a special shout-out to Radhika Apte and Dhansika. Radhika brings a nuance to her performance as Rajinikanth’s wife and is a refreshing change after watching heroines in bit roles in Rajini movies.

Watch out for the scene where Rajinikanth and Radhika meet after a long time. We bet this one will give you goosebumps. There is another moment near the interval which leaves you feeling cold.
What doesn’t work in Kabali is its slow pace and patchy narrations. There are moments when the film starts lagging and your attention wanders. For a movie that has lefts fans in a frenzy across the world, Kabali fails to live up to expectations because of this. While for most audiences this will be the major grouse, die-hard fans are going to love every moment. This one is a feast for them, others will find it enjoyable but lagging at certain moments.

Mirch Masala

For some Ketan Mehta will always remain the man who made Mirch Masala. An attention grabbing film, it rotates around the gender divide in the society. It is the story of Sonabai (Smita Patil) and her struggle to protect her sanctity from the evil Subedar (Naseeruddin Shah) and a village full of sexist men. The dusty and dried surroundings of Kutch shown in the movie probably are an illustration for the values of a male and class-dominated Indian culture.

I would have loved to have met that guy after the Oscars!”

Attenborough knew that he would be telling one of the 20th-century's most remarkable stories, that of the Indian lawyer who returned from racially segregated South Africa to drive the British out of his home country through successive acts of non-violent protest.

Ardh Satya

Ardh Satya is directed by the very talented Govind Nihalani. The film is based on a short story by D.A. Panvalkar and the script is written by Vijay Tendulkar.
