How to Solve Error 3194 when Downgrading iPhone 4 Back to iOS 4.3.3
Well, iTunes Error 3194 means iTunes failed to get iOS 4.3.3 SHSH blobs from Apple servers. iTunes normally request Apple servers to sign the IPSW with the ECID (Exclusive Chip ID) due to the fact that Apple stop signing ECID for old firmwares whenever new firmware is released. Anyway, you can trick iTunes to get SHSH blobs from Jay Freeman’s Cydia server instead of requesting them from Apple servers by editing the HOSTS file. If you aren’t familiar with the steps, then you can follow the tutorial posted below:
Edit HOSTS File on Windows:
Step 1: Open Notepad or any text editing tool. Now, launch windows explorer or press Windows + E and navigate to C:WindowsSystem32driversetc and then in ETC directory open HOSTS file with Notepad.
Step 2: Then you have to add 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com to the end of HOSTS file and then save it.
Edit HOSTS File on Mac:
Step 1: Click on Go -> Go to Folder and then enter path /etc
Step 2: Now you have to open HOSTS file via TextEdit and then add 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com at the end of the file.
That’s it! You have successfully edited iTunes’ HOSTS file. You can now restore the stock iOS 4.3.3 IPSW file into your iPhone 4 without getting 3194 error.
