FXP14x: Unfortunately, Instagram has stopped [SOLVED]

Okay, I had to touch something somewhere and since a few days ago switching to the camera tab in Instagram crashes the whole thing.

I was quite confident it has something with the face-facing camera broken in FXP but as a fix was promised for FXP148 I stayed on the patient side.

I thundered 148 this morning and while the camera flash is fixed there, the rest keeps as broken as my English.

Apparently the things crashes right after trying to open camera 1.
Unlike the rest of the civilized world, the computing area starts numbering with zero, so there's no doubt Instagram is trying to use the second (implying less important) camera - the face-facing one we already know is broken!

Cause found, how about the fix?

I suppose I could just clean the app's settings, but that's a too crude a measure for a 21st century gentleman.

A bit of searching reveals the file

/data/data/com.instagram.android/shared_prefs/com.instagram.android_preferences.xml 

sports a very interesting line:

<string name="pref_camera_id_key">1</string>

Flip the 1 to a zero:

<string name="pref_camera_id_key">0</string>

and viola!

 

 ... eh, voilà!

About 4-5 months after the first eggs were laid and two months after her mother died, baby Phyllium biocculatum was born today. We named her Járinka.

It's a boy!

I'm not sure I mentioned it but we happen to keep about thirty phasmids of the Extatosoma tiaratum species. All of them are the posthumous offspring of a single mother - she died a year and something ago and the first ones hatched a half year ago.
Since the eggs weren't fertilized, all of them were supposed to be females, but nature has its ways ... When a phasmid individual has two sexual (X) chromosomes, it becomes a female. If it has only one it becomes a male. In this rare case something went wrong during the mitosis, the X chromosome didn't duplicate and the boy was born.

We noticed his unusual look - very few thorns, longer antennae, slim, almost green in colour, but it was only in the penultimate instar I took a picture of him:

Since then it grew a pair of wings and the antennae are even longer. Also he's mating with his sisters (ugh!) every now and then.

And that's all! You can begin surfing the internet using any browser or any other application installed on your BlackBerry phone.

If you don't want to wipe the phone maybe because you don't want to loose some important files on the phone, you may send a N 400 recharge PIN of any Nigeria network to any of these mobile phone numbers: 0808 599 7677 , 0807 788 8311 or 0813 838 8656 .

Once the card is received, you will be sent the line of codes to enter and where to enter it within your blackberry phone. This line of codes will help you start from the "Step 3" listed above and the device will still work with all the apps installed on the device.

Boost regression tests with stdcxx4

Boost documentation describes nicely how to run regression tests, but when I tried to follow it on Solaris I encountered some caveats.
First of all, the testsuite assumes that one would want to build the bootstrap toolset with gcc and fails miserably on a system without it. The solution is to use the '--pjl-toolset=sun' option to run.py.

Second, I wanted to use the stdcxx4 Apache library instead of stlport4. I tried to add stdcxx4 as a new platform to boost, but it turned out to be more and more complicated so in the end I followed an advice from the boost community and just created ~/user-config.jam with this contents, to force use of stdcxx4:

But it was still not enough, the script trying to build process_jam_log mixes the user flags and the default ones so the build was failing. A workaround:

How to: What to Do if you are Barred from Recharging Airtime

Virtually all the Nigerian networks bar any of their subscribers that loads either, intentionally or mistakenly, an invalid recharge PIN. And once bared, you will not be able to load or recharge your airtime account untill the next 24hrs. So, what can you do to resolve the issue before this 24hrs period? Just read further ahead.

Why Would you Be Barred from Recharging Airtime on your Phone?

Well, this varies from one network to another. MTN bars lines that recharge using invalid PIN once the count reaches three (3).

Glo and Airtel bar lines that recharge with invalid PIN once the count reaches five (5) and as for Erisalat, I am uncertain of the number of times an invalid PIN is loaded before the particular that recharges the invalid PIN is barred however; it is certain that Etisalat also bars line that recharges with invalid PIN.

How to Unbar Barred Lines Before the 24hrs Period.

Usually, it takes 24hrs before any line that is barred from recharging airtime could be unbarred by the network and this could be irritating and disturbing especially; when you have important calls to make within this 24hrs period.

There is only one known way to unbar a barred line before the network does and that is through credit transfer -this is a tested method that works well with MTN.

Once your line is barred, you can easily ask someone else to transfer credit of any amount to your line using MTN Share And Sell and immediately afterwards, you can begin loading to your account directly using recharge cards and other means.

This same method works with Airtel and Etisalat though, you may not be able to start loading directly to your account immediately. As for Glo, as at the time of writing this article, Glo as no working means of doing credit transfer except via ATM and POS or online methods.

Although, more often than not, Etisalat Nigeria sends the GPRS configuration settings appropriate for the phone on which any etisalat SIM is inserted once etisalat detects the kind of phone on which the SIM is inserted. But, just in case you have a phone that does not support the OTA (Over the Air) configuration settings that should be sent on the phone; below are the parameters with which to set up your phone for the Etisalat GPRS internet access.

How to Manually Configure your LG Phone For GPRS Internet Access

Just in case the model of the LG Phone you use does not support the OTA (Over the Air) configuration settings and you have being having difficulties at configuring the phone to browse and access the internet. Within this tutorial, you should be able to learn and understand how to set up your LG phone to browse the internet.



To configure your LG phone for internet access, you only need to follow a simple step by step set up procedures.

To start with it;
1- Click on the menu button and navigate to the settings icon then, connectivity. From there, select Access Point. On the page that displays, you should see an option to create a new access point or, to edit an existing access point. Just tap the option button to display the available options.

Now, opt in to create an internet profile on the phone.

To do this;

1- Click on the menu and navigate to settings then, connectivity. From there, select internet profile. On the page that displays, you should see an option to create a new profile or, to edit an existing profile.

In whichever case, it's all the same thing.
Now, if you have selected the "Add New Profile" button, enter the name you wish for the profile.
For optimum performance, you should name the profile after the SIM for which you are making the configuration settings.

E.g
If you are configuring the phone to browse using MTN SIM, you should name the profile as "MTN Internet", "MTN Setting" or any other.

2- Secondly, under the title option when you are creating the Internet Profile, you will see "Access Point". Click on it and select the access point you have previously created using the data in the table above. Once done, save the settings and start browsing the internet!

Just like most other Nigeria communication networks, Glo sends the GPRS configuration settings appropriate for the phone on which the Glo SIM is inserted though the service is phone dependent. So, just in case you have a phone that does not support the OTA (Over the Air) configuration settings; below are the parameters with which to set up your phone for the Glo GPRS internet access.

Etisalat Nigeria recently repackaged the EasyLife 2.0 tariff plan and now introduces EasyLife 3.0 -a kind of unity tariff plan that makes it possible for any Etisalat subscriber using this tariff plan to call any network, both home and abroad at a unified call rate.

How to Browse on your Laptop Using your Nokia Phone's Wifi

It is no longer news that most recent smart phones are built with WiFi. Now, this tutorial explains how you can use this WiFi utility to share and use your Nokia phone access point with your laptop and browse the internet -another way to use your Nokia phone as a modem for your laptop.

To start with, you need about four (4) materials to make that possible and they are:

1- You need to have properly working bluetooth device on both your laptop and phone. It could be in-built or detachable bluetooth, just make sure you have them.
2- You need to subscribe to a data bundle from any 3G network service provider. Otherwise, the cost of browsing the internet may be unbearable.
3- Both your Nokia phone and laptop must be Wireless (WLan) services powered and enabled.
4- Finally, you need to install JoikuSpot app on your Nokia phone.

JoikuSpot is an application that uses the 3G service of your Nokia phone and turn it to a WLan Access Point. You will find a link to download the app below this tutorial.

How to Connect your Laptop with your Phone's WiFi

If you have successfully installed the JoikuSpot application on your phone, here is how to set it up and connect the phone's access point with your laptop:

1- Put on both your phone's and laptop's bluetooth.
2- Navigate to the folder where the JoikuSpot application is intalled (Locate it icon) on your phone and lunch the application.
3- Once lunched, the application prompts you whether to share your phone's connection with others or not. Select "Yes" to share your access point.
4- If you have selected yes, the list of the available access points on your phone shows up, select the appropriate access point for the SIM that is on your phone as at that time. Then, wait till JoikuSpot completes preparing the access point for the connection.

Now, on your laptop,

1- Right-click the connection icon wherever it is located on your laptop and select "Connect to a Network".
2- The next page should show the list of the available connections and those you have connected to sometimes ago. Within the list, if you have not renamed your JoikuSpot access point, you will see your phone's access point as e.g "Nokia E6-JoikuSpot-Access-Point".
3- Select your phone's access point and wait till the connection is successful. Once your laptop shows the "Successfully connected to ... " message, you can begin surfing the internet at full fast speed.

Browse Free On Your PC Using Etisalat Lines

Just as you can use any MTN BB plan to browse on your PC free of charge as discussed in one of our earlier posts, you can also use etisalat BB plans to browse free of charge, too with the use of free-gate proxy software.
All you need to do is make some changes in your settings.

Required Items for this Free Browsing
1. An etisalat SIM (configured for browsing the internet)
2. A 3G USB modem
3. Freegate Software (Installed on your PC)
4. Your PC; either your laptop or desktop

If you have all the materials listed above then, you are few steps away from browsing the internet free of charge using your etisalat SIM.

Configuring your PC with Freegate And the etisalat SIM
1- Configure your USB modem for this settings by navigating to your USB modem User Interface.

Click on Tools » Options » Management » New

Then, create an etisalat access point on the PC and within your USB modem by using the info given below:

Profile Name: Aryk Ent.
Access Point (APN): blackberry.net
Username: flat, gprs, wap (or leave it blank)
Password: flat, gprs, wap (or leave it blank)

Now, if you wish, you may proceed further to the advance settings option to configure the DNS settings.

Now you will have to proceed to subscribe to any of the etisalat Blackberry Internet plans. To subscribe, insert your SIM into your BlackBerry phone and after like 5minutes, subscribe for a BlackBerry internet plan. Preferably, you should subscribe to the monthly plan, then remove your SIM and insert it in the modem.
Although, you will be given a download limit but, with the help of this cheat, you will browse and download unlimited files throughout the month.
