How to root and unroot Infinix Hot 2 X510 running on Android 6 (Marshmallow)
In previous guides on the Infinix Hot 2 X510, I explained how to upgrade from Android Lollipop (5) to Marshmallow (6) using and the more convenient SP Flash tool method (http://slim-tech.blogspot.com.ng/2016/01/how-to-upgrade-infinix-hot-2-to-android-marshmallow.html). Today’s guide will focus on rooting. would definitely come in handy.
How do I root the Infinix Hot 2 X510 running on Marshmallow?
- Download SuperSU2.66.zip at here
- Copy the SuperSU2.66.zip to the phone’s internal / phone storage
- Download TWRP for Infinix X510 (Marshmallow) ported by Team Hovatek at here
- Extract the contents of the TWRP zip file into a folder
- Download the modified Preloader.bin and Lk.bin for Infinix Hot 2 X510 by Team Hovatek @ here (These will enable you boot into recovery mode using button combos)
- Extract the modified Preloader.bin and Lk.bin into a folder
- Install VCOM drivers on the PC
- Flash the modified Preloader.bin, Lk.bin and TWRP recovery.img to the phone using SP flash tool
- Once flashing is complete, boot the phone straight into recovery mode using Volume up button + Power button
- The phone should now boot into TWRP recovery
- If you get a message like in the image below, swipe to allow TWRP modify the system partition. To swipe, place your finger on the green circle then slide to the right
- In TWRP recovery, tap Install
- Navigate to the location of the SuperSU.zip and select it
- Swipe to confirm flashing and wait till flashing is complete
- Power off the phone by taking out the battery for 15 seconds then slotting it back in
- Download the Unmodified Preloader.bin and Lk.bin for Infinix Hot 2 X510 at here and flash it using SP flash tool
- Boot up the phone normally once flashing is complete
- Install Root Checker to verify Root; you should see a message like in the image below
How do I unroot the Infinix Hot 2 X510 running on Marshmallow?

- Install VCOM drivers on the PC
- Flash only the recovery.img and system.img (Android) to the phone using SP flash tool (Do not interrupt flashing)
- Boot up the phone once flashing is complete
- If the phone gets stuck at boot animation during boot, take out the battery and slot it back in then leave the phone to boot up
- Install Root Checker to verify Unroot; you should see a message like in the image below
