How to Solve these Installation Problems on Phones

Now, you can try any of these tricks if your phone displays any of these error messages: "Certificate Expired", "Certificate not yet Valid", "Invalid Application ", "Invalid Certificate" amongst others while trying to install a certain application on the phone.

1- Check the Phone Installation Settings: especially, in most Nokia S60 phones, the default settings for application installations is set to deny uncertified applications thereby setting them as un-trusted applications. To solve this kind of problem on Nokia phones, go to:

Menu >> Settings >> Phone Settings >> Applications >> App Manager >> Software Installation

Then, set the software installation type to "All".

2- Back Date the Phone: this is just a common English term to solve a common phone installation problem. All you need to do here is to reverse the date on the phone sequentially until you are able to get a correct valid date for the application.

Reason for this:
Supposing that you are trying to install an application that was made in the year 2008 and has a certificate valid for 2 years thus; 2008 to 2010.
If you are trying to install that application this year, 2012, you would need to back-date that phone to the year that application was certificated in other to make it install on that phone.

3- Change your Installation Disk: Try to install that application in a different disk. For example, if you are installing on the phone memory, change it to memory and restart your phone.

How to Recover your Modem's IMEI Number

It is no longer news that you need your modem's IMEI number if you need to unlock your 3G modem so that you may be able to use any SIM from any 3G network service provider with that particular modem. This post explains how you may get the modem's IMEI number even though you have lost the modem's IMEI number long ago.

Just in case you have lost your modem's IMEI number and you cannot find any referrence with regards to it, below you will learn how to get the modem's IMEI number back in as much as you still have the modem with you.

1- Plug/ attach the modem to a desktop/laptop computer and wait till the modem's client installs on the computer. Or, if the modem's client is already installed on the computer, wait untill it detects that the modem has being attached to the computer.

2- Locate and click on the "TOOL" option in the top navigation bar of the modem client.

3- Click on the diagnostics option as in the image below points.

4- On the pop-out page as could be seen in the image below, you will find your modems IMEI number just above the highlighted green ink within the image below. Copy or write the modem's IMEI down and use it wherever it might be needed.

Solutions to Message Failure Reports on Phones

Just in case you have experienced or still experiencing this "Message Not Sent" or "Message Failure" issues on your phone, one of these is probably the cause of it and perhaps; you might find a solution here, too.

Causes of "Message Not Sent or Failure" Alert on Phones

Either of the followings might be the cause of the message failure responses you recieve on your phone:

1- Poor Service Transmission: it is possible that at a particular point in time, the service of that particular network that transmits messages was not good then hence, your sent messages hang and eventually fail.

"Solution: switch off your phone for about three (3) minutes and on it back then; resend the message."

2- Wrong Message Centre: one of those things that may result to message failure is the message centre in use. For instance: let say you previousely use an MTN line with your phone and for one reason or another, you had to replace the MTN with a Glo line. In cases like this, if you send a message with the Glo line on the phone using the MTN message centre; the message would fail.

"Solution: just change the message centre in use to the message centre of the SIM in use i.e change the message centre to Glo Meesage Centre in the case of the example above."

3- Incorrect Message Centre Number: this is also one of those things that causes message failure. Since your phone message centre number is like your P O BOX number from which you send and receive messages, it has to be correct.

"Solution: just navigate to the message settings to be sure that SMS Centre Number is set to the correct one."
